Description
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Argent, a cross potent embattled Sanguine entwined by a serpent Vert langued Gules.  Attached below the shield a Maroon scroll inscribed HUSKER EVAC in Silver.

Symbolism
The colors maroon (Sanguine) and white are those traditionally associated with the Army Medical Corps.  Green denotes hope and good health; the white field depicts the pure and noble nature of the medical evacuation mission.  The maroon cross reflects medicine, courage and zeal.  The stylized serpent is adapted from the staff of Aesculapius, the mythological god of medicine, and represents life-giving powers.  The embattlement of the ends of the cross suggest safety and represent the historical forts of the territory which became the state of Nebraska, reflecting the vital role of the militia in the settlement of the West.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved effective 1 September 1995.
